The Stay The Course creative process was a true definition of collaboration. Four creators from different disciplines came together to turn a negative into a positive.

The Portland Art Museum proudly displayed a Black Lives Matter banner in their front courtyard. Some people did not agree with the museum's bold statement and ripped it down. Everytime someone damaged a vinyl banner it was replaced right away. Unfortunately, it would be cut down again. The museum partnered up with The Numberz FM team to think of a way to use the damaged banners and create something artistic. The Numberz team asked us for some ideas and our answer was "make some bags".

STC TOTE

STC LAPTOP SLEEVE

STC GO-BAG (CROSSOVER + BELT BAG)

Our production designer, Cayl Austin and I sat down with Kayode “Ambush” Balogun to discuss his visions for the project. As a group, we decided that we wanted to design the bags for daily usage. We agreed to design three bags that addressed different needs, but complemented each other as one kit. I would do the preliminary design and then pass it off to Cayl where he would add his functional ideas to elevate each item. We would pass sketches back and forth until we felt confident enough to show Kayode. All three of us would finalize the designs together as one team.

The Portland Art Museum was so happy with the outcome they decided to showcase the prototypes at the Aux Mute Gallery that is located on the fourth floor of the museum. We are very excited to share the process and stay tuned for the Fall 2022 drop.
